About Dr. Sachin Palnitkar
Dr. Sachin Palnitkar is well-versed in the management of various gastrointestinal emergencies such as gastrointestinal bleed, medical management of all acute abdominal conditions, liver failure, biliary and pancreatic problems. He has managed many liver transplant patients since the time of his training at Global Hospitals. He is proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures including banding, electrocoagulation, dilatation, foreign body removal, feeding tube placement, and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy. He is also adept in colonoscopy and retrograde ileoscopy (diagnostic, snare polypectomy). Dr. Palnitkar is well acquainted with the newer gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary imaging techniques viz. magnetic resonance imaging, angiography, spiral and three-dimensional CT, and virtual endoscopy.
After completing his MBBS from Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals in Mumbai, Dr. Palnitkar served as Regimental Medical Officer for the Indian Army Medical Corps for five years. He then did a year’s stint as Resident in Nuclear Medicine at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. In 2009 he pursued the postgraduate MD (Internal Medicine) degree at Indian Naval Hospital Ship INHS Asvini in Colaba, Mumbai. He passed with flying colours, bagging a Gold Medal along with the MD degree from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in 2012. Dr. Palnitkar then trained for three years at Global Hospitals in Hyderabad for the DNB (Gastroenterology & Hepatology) superspeciality title, which he received from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, in 2016.
Dr. Sachin Palnitkar is a Specialist in Liver Transplant, Liver Diseases and Gastroenterology. He is currently based in Pune, attached to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital (Erandwane) as Honorary Consultant. He is also available for consultation at Newlife Liver & Gastro Care (Kothrud) and at his private clinic in the Health Plaza building located on Green Drive Road, Wakad, Pune.
